Mean Girls 10th Anniversary

I can't believe it has been a whole decade since Mean Girls was released!!!! It goes without saying that this is one of the most popular films of our generation, and one of the most quotable too.  I love it!

Here is a compilation of my ten favourite gifs and quotes from Mean Girls, enjoy! :)

1. She doesn't even go here!

2. Whatever. I'm getting cheese fries.

3. 4 for you Glen Coco! You go Glen Coco!!

4. I'm a mouse, duh.

5. One time she punched me in the face.  It was awesome.

6. Grool

7. You're a mean girl Cady. You're a bitch!

8. Get in loser. We're going shopping.

9. Regina George is not sweet! She's a scum-sucking road whore, she ruined my life!

10. Say crack again.

And none for Gretchen Weiners. Bye! xxxxx

My 5 Essential iPhone Apps

If you are looking for some new apps to download, or perhaps you want to have a re-organisation of the apps on your phone then look no further! Here is a list of my 5 favourite iPhone apps that I use everyday.  I've excluded the most popular apps such as: Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/Snapchat etc. as I'm pretty sure most of you reading this will already have these on your phone.

1. Afterlight
Afterlight costs 69p on the App Store.

By being a blogger I take loads of photos everyday and if I share them with you all I want them to look as good as they can.  This is where Afterlight steps in! Afterlight is perfect for easy editing yet there are so many more tools that you can use compared to the basic ones and filters provided with Instagram (9/10 times when I add a photo to Instagram I edit it with Afterlight before hand!).

A feature I love about Afterlight is that your photos don't have to be square! Why does Instagram force you into having square photos? :( With Afterlight you can get the full picture, and if you want to add it to Instagram, you can add vertical borders down the sides to make it square.  You can also add shape overlays - I love adding the heart on top (see the photos below :)). Afterlight has loads more filters than Instagram, and you can choose how much the filter influences the photo too.

Here are some photos I have edited with Afterlight:

2. Pinterest
Pinterest is free on the App Store.

If you are new to Pinterest then it basically allows you to create "boards" where you pin images that you find, to it, or a similar collective grouping.  For example, I have a board called "Dream Home" where I've found images on the Popular and Home Decor categories, that I'd love to have in my future home.  You can follow your friends and other users and see what they pin to their boards too.  Pinterest is perfect for getting inspiration for loads of things, and I've learnt how to do cute hair and makeup from looking at the DIY pieces!

Pinterest is perfect for doing a bit of research on that new plait you want to learn, or seeing how to create friendship bracelets etc.  you can find pretty much everything on there.  Also if you've got a bit of time to kill then it is perfect for passive scrolling, and seeing what's popular at the minute.  I'd definitely recommend setting up a Pinterest account, even if you don't fancy getting the app, you can still sign up for free on their website: http://www.pinterest.com/

3. Timehop
Timehop is free on the App Store.

Timehop is great fun and actually quite interesting.  It basically provides an overview of what you were doing this day, last year/ 2 years ago/3 years ago etc.  When you download it, it asks you what social media you'd like it to synchronise to, so mine is set-up connected to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and shows you your activity from this day in your social media history.  It's great to see what you were up to and it's almost like looking though a sort of virtual online diary of your life! haha :)

It brings back memories that you may have not thought about since that day! Some of it can be quite cringey though like I saw one recently where I had tweeted some Youtuber (not saying who!) proper fangirling haha!

4. Dots
Dots is free on the App Store.

Dots is an incredibly addictive game that my boyfriend introduced me to!  According to the App Store it is the number one game in 21 countries.. so you may have heard of it, but I hadn't.  All you have to do is connect as many of the same-coloured dots together in 60 seconds, but you score more by creating squares and rectangles etc.  It's great because you can see your friends' scores on Facebook and Twitter and it just makes you want to play it more and more! My all-time best score is 319! Can you beat it?! Probably, haha!

5. O2 Priority Moments
O2 Priority Moments is free on the App Store.

Obviously this app is only great if you're on O2!  I'm not going to spend to long talking about this app because I know many of you won't be on O2.  I love this app because there's always offers,  and freebies (usually Hotel Chocolat and WHSmith) to grab when you make a visit to town.

All you simply do is choose an offer from a store (say it's Caffe Nero), select redeem, and then it will give you a unique code to present to the cashier in Caffe Nero.  Then you're done and can collect your free hot chocolate! :)  You can also enter competitions, and apply for certain tickets early too, which is always a bonus!

Anyway this is my list of essential apps (so far!) thank you for reading! What else do you use on your phones? :)  Have you ever tried any of the apps that I've mentioned?  Let me know in the comments your thoughts :)

Love Amy :) xx

The Disney Tag

Okay so recently I have been getting more obsessed with Disney than usual, due to the fact my sister - Rach is taking me to DisneyLand for my 21st Birthday! EEEEEEEK!!! I'm so so so excited! So I thought it might be fun to create a Disney Tag :) and to nominate you guys to take part too :) Feel free to use "The Disney Tag" gif I have at the top

Question 1: What is your favourite Disney film?

Okay so recently I have realised that Frozen is my favourite, however my Disney top film short list is very mixed! I've always loved the Disney Princess films (Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and The Little Mermaid, Tangled) but also the animal ones like The Aristocats, 101 Dalmations, Lady and the Tramp and The Jungle Book.

Question 2: Who is your favourite Disney Character?

Right well Marie (from The Aristocats) has always been one of my favourites as she reminds me so much of my cat, however I think my absolute favourite is Minnie Mouse (or Minerva Mouse)! She is adorable! I also loveeee all of her Bows in her Bowtique too haha!  If Minnie is on something, there's no doubt I will have thought about buying it.

Question 3: Who is your favourite Disney Princess, and why?

My favourite Disney Princess is Elsa - the Snow Queen of Arendelle!  Firstly I love Idina Menzel being her, and her songs are amazing (*bursts into singing Let it Go*)!  I love Elsa's transformation from a reserved "conceal don't feel" / fearful type of personality, into a fiesty, not a care in the world type.  Which Disney have merged beautifully in Let it Go, where Elsa's hair is no longer tied up in a tight but, but down in a thick plait, her make-up and style transform dramatically too.  I also love the fact she has ice powers hehe!

Question 4: Who would you rather be: Sleeping Beauty (Aurora) or Cinderella?

I think I'd rather be Cinderella.  Although she has mean family, who are cruel and make her do all the chores, I like the fact she goes to the ball, and has her own stylist/Fairy God-Mother!  Sleeping Beauty does get to sleep for an awfully long time (which sounds like me!) but I'd be so afraid of Maleficent and her scary raven - Diablo *shudder*.

Question 5: Who would you rather be: Hercules or Tarzan?

I love animals so much that being Tarzan sounds ideal to me! Also I think living in the jungle may be fun (?!).

Question 6: Who would you rather be: Lizzie McGuire or Raven Baxter?

Even though Raven can predict the future, I think I'd prefer to be Lizzie McGuire because she gets to go to Italy and go on stage and sing, all on a school trip.  Also, Lizzie had three-way phone calls and when I watched it in the early 2000s that was way cool haha!

Question 7: What is your favourite Disney Song?

I feel like my Disney Tag has been too Frozen related so I'm not going to choose a Frozen one, even though I love them!  I'm going to say Colours of the Wind.  The imagery is beautiful, and I find it's actually quite a moving piece of music.  There are really powerful lyrics too: "If you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you'll learn things you never knew, you never knew", "you can own the Earth and still all you'll own is earth until" :)

Question 8: Which Disney character would be your best friend?

I think my perfect Disney best friend would be Kronk (from The Emperor's New Groove/Kronk's New Groove) because he is absolutely hilarious!  He is so funny, and seems so sensitive too (even though he is Yzma's sidekick?! haha!).  I think he would make a great best friend!

Question 9: Which Disney character would be your pet?

It would be Pegasus! A flying-horse would be pretty handy to own haha :)

Question 10: Have you ever been to Disneyland? If so, which one? and upload a photo too :)

I have! I've been to Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney World Florida too :)  I am sooo excited to return to Disneyland for my birthday! It's great fun :)

I look so awkward in the photo to the right but this is like one of the only ones of me and the castle, to prove I'm actually at Disneyland haha!

Thank you all so much for reading this, you don't have to do this tag if you don't want but I thought it might be a bit of fun for everyone :)

After doing some research on twitter,  I now nominate: RachVoirreyAlishaNickkiDebSammySameraKayleighLilyJessica JadeJessicaMariannaClarissa and anybody else reading this!

Comment below a link with your Disney Tag if you have done it after reading this! I'd love to hear your thoughts :)

Love Amy :) xx

My 5 Bourjois Must-Haves

I thought I would share with you all my 5 +BourjoisUK Must-Haves as they are now my favourite High-Street beauty brand, and I think they are underrated!

5. Bourjois Little Round Pot Blusher

This is my favourite blusher! It costs £7.99 from Superdrug and I have the Rose Mandarine 39 shade.

Reasons I love using this:
*  It smells like roses - divine!!
*  It has a cute teeny mirror & brush inside! (great for nights out!)
*  It isn't too shimmery.  Personally, I don't really like my blusher standing out and looking shimmery and glittery so this is perfect for me.
* It blends on top of my Bourjois Healthy Balance Unifying Powder seemlessly.

4. Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer

I have recently been converted to this concealer, after previously using the Collection Lasting perfection one.  I think this costs about £7.99 in Superdrug, but you can get student discount with the NUS card.

Reasons I love using this:
*  It lasts all day!
* It is  fairly liquidy so does not make my skin look dehydrated (which, unfortunately, the Collection one did).
*  The angled tip allows for smoother and precise application in harder to reach areas, such as the darker pigmentation underneath my eyes.
* I use the 51 - Light Radiance shade and it is a perfect match for my light skin. :)

3. Bourjois Healthy Balance Unifying Compact Powder

Okay so this the product which actually converted me to Bourjois! It costs £8.99 from Boots (at the time it was on a "buy 2 things from Bourjois over £12 and receive a free Bourjois Liquid Eyeliner - so that was a bonus!).  I have  this in 52 - Vanille :)

Reasons I love using this:
*  According to the packaging the product is meant to last up to 10 hours, but I applied my makeup at half 10 this morning and it is now 10 past 10 in the evening and I still don't look shiny! However this may just be due to my skin type :)
*  IT SMELLS AMAZING!!!!! :)
* It hasn't ever cracked which happened to my Philosophy face powder that I used to use.
* It comes with a compact mirror.  This is perfect if you want to go out for the day but you worry you might start to look a bit shiny - just pop this powder & a brush in your hand-bag you're good to go :)
* It makes your skin feel soft and light as it doesn't clog my pores up.

2. Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover: Hands and Feet

So recently I won this in a Bourjois Twitter competition and I will never use another nail varnish remover ever again! This is the newest addition to Bourjois' 1 Second Nail Varnish Remover range :) look out for it in shops soon!

Reasons I love using this:
*  It claims to take one second to remove the nail varnish from one nail - and it actually does only take one second! So fast.
*  NO COTTON WOOL! I hate removing nail varnish using cotton wool - it just gets all over the cotton pad and ends up staining the skin surrounding the nail, with the colour of the nail varnish you just removed, argh!  You just dip and twist your finger in the pot and off it comes!
*  This remover actually has an in-built sponge in the lid which makes it so incredibly easy to remove the nail varnish from your toes too!

1. Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation

The Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation costs £10.99 from Boots (really good value for money seeing how good it is!).  This foundation acts upon three target areas: 1. anti-dark circles, 2. anti-dull complexion 3. anti-redness - to balance your complexion for up to 16 hours. (Recently I have swapped my usual Mac Studio-Fix foundation to this, and I used to swear by my Mac foundation - but now I am converted).

Reasons I love using this:
*  It targets all three areas that it claims to! I do suffer from redness in my T-Zone and this foundation effectively disguises this.  Also, my complexion seems brighter too. I've found that all darkness around my eyes have vanished but I do use a combination of this foundation on top of the Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer.
* This is a liquid concealer but it feels so much lighter and less cakey than my Mac one.
* It lasts as long as it says it does.
* This foundation is great at hiding pores too!
* Definitely makes my complexion look even and balanced!
* The pump allows for easy application and does not allow for spillage (like the Mac one) or pouring out too much (again, like the Mac one!).

So there you have my top 5 Bourjois must-haves :) I'd love to hear your thoughts on Bourjois too!  Are you a fan? Would you have a different top 5 Bourjois, and are there any other products you'd recommend?  Or do you prefer a completely different high-street beauty brand? Let me know in the comments!

Thank you for reading!
Love Amy :) xx

Happy Easter!

Hey everyone! :)

Just a quick blog post today! I'd like to just wish everybody a Happy Easter, and I hope you are all having a good day :)

This photo basically sums up my day - 3 of my favourites; Mini-Eggs, tulips and Hello Kitty!

Also, has anybody read "The Goldfinch" - by Donna Tartt? I'd love to hear what you thought of it :) I'm thinking of spending the rest of my day not revising and reading it haha

Have a lovely Easter Sunday everyone!
Love Amy :) xxx

Good Friday Sparkle Nails!

Hey everyone :)

For the four day weekend (well in the UK anyway!) I thought I would treat my nails to a bit of R & R.

Now to pamper your nails you need to:

1. Remove any existing nail varnish.  My nail varnish remover recommendation is the Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover - Hands & Feet instant removal.  I recently won this from Bourjois, and now this is all I use! It has a sponge inside that you press to your nail (no cotton wool needed!!) and it comes off in seconds!

2.  Shape your nails, to your desired shape :) I quite like mine to be quite straight across the top so I use a nail file.  You can find these in Boots/Superdrug/Primark/Tesco etc!

3. Apply a base coat. I use the Rimmel's Stronger Try Harder and I think it is a great fortifier and keeps your nails strong and healthy.  I think this cost me £4.49 from Boots.

4.  Choose your brand and colour! I have chosen Adrenalin 303 by Topshop:

I love the Topshop nail varnishes! The product itself looks so cute with the signature polkadot top.  Also, I find that the brush is chunky but not clumsy and the actual varnish itself is a good consistency - the balance between thin and thick is perfect.  For this nail varnish I applied two coats.

Here is the finished product:

Has anybody else used this colour before? What are your thoughts on it?! Let me know what you all think in the comments below :)

I hope you all have a lovely Easter Weekend,
Love Amy :) x

Staying Revision Motivated

17/04/2014

Okay nobody likes mentioning the R word, but most of us have a lot of revision to do when it comes to Easter.  Just when the sun is finally coming out, and it's getting warmer.. but no, we have to revise! *sigh*

I'm not going to sit here and lecture you on how to revise etc. because I'm pretty sure you all know by now what is the most effective technique for you.  All I'm going to do is help you to keep motivated!

If you listen to Radio 1 you are probably familiar with their Revision Power Hours.  The aim is to keep you motivated for an hour, using music and dj's urging you on.  I personally find these great! Today's Revision Power Hour was with Matt Edmondson at 2pm and featured classics such as "Work" - Kelly Rowland (Freemason's remix), "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" - Daft Punk and "Let's Get It Started" - Black Eyed Peas.  I find that these songs actually do help to keep me motivated!

Here are some motivational quotations I found to keep you going through your revision sessions:

I hope these help! Good luck with your studying, remember to reward yourself with treats and breaks :)

Love Amy xxx

p.s. one final note to you Ryan Gosling fans out there..

8 reasons why Hunstanton is actually great!

16th of April 2014

Being local to Hunstanton (Sunny Hunny) I don't often spend time doing the more touristy things available.  On a revision break yesterday my sister and I decided to go to Sunny Hunny and do as the tourists do!  Here I have compiled a list to show that Sunny Hunny is pretty great to visit :)

1. Sunsets

The east coast of England offers one of the best areas to see both sunrises and sunsets over the sea.  As Hunstanton is situated around the Wash it actually faces West towards the sea, and can show some spectacular sunsets.

2. Old Hunstanton Beach

Old Hunstanton Beach is where I go with my family.  It is beautiful and not so busy.  The coast stretches for miles, and it is great to walk the dog along here.  Cute beach huts are hidden behind the dunes, and it is a great showcase of the unspoilt Norfolk coastline.

3. New Hunstanton Attractions

The Hunstanton Sea Life Sanctuary suffered severe damage after the floods of December 5th 2013 destroyed much of the building. But all the fishes and animals were safely evacuated!  The Wash hosts the biggest common seal colony in the whole of Europe and the sanctuary has shown great success in the rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing of seal pups.  The best time for seal sightings is in June and July.

It's great to go and visit the arcades in New Hunstanton if you have spare shrapnel on you! You don't normally win much but yesterday my sister and I won 2 little Finding Nemo toys haha! The one we normally visit is the one at the Pier (below the bowling complex).  It is perfect if the weather turns cooler and you want something cheap to do!

Keeping it traditional to its Victorian roots, Pony Rides are available along the beach in New Hunstanton for £2.50 a ride..  Here is a little photo of a pony I took yesterday:

4. Hunstanton Rock

As with most seaside towns, Hunstanton hosts a variety of sweet shops selling everything under the sun.  So if you, like me, have a bit of a sweet tooth I can guarantee you will find something you love in this cute sweet shops.  Below is a photo of my sister posing next to some rock, haha!

5. Fish and Chips!

There have been countless occasions where I have had fish and chips on the  sandy beaches.  In New Hunstanton I've been to Cod'licious and Vegas a few times, but be careful of the seagulls trying to steal your food from you!

6. The Lighthouse

The Old Hunstanton Lighthouse had the world's first parabolic reflector, which is the shiny sheet inside that reflects the light outwards.  If you decide to visit the Lighthouse you can walk down the cliff towards Old Hunstanton beach and take a lovely long stroll from here, then end at The Ancient Mariner Inn.

7. Summer Events

Hunstanton Tennis Week occurs every year (normally in August) and is the biggest Lawn Tennis Tournament in Britain.  Also, Lifestyles Festival which is Hunstanton's extreme sport and culture festival occurs each summer too, this year in September.  The Hunstanton Sailing club offers events throughout the year, and this year will host the 40th year anniversary of the Mirror Miracles Association, a very prestigious event! Also if you are interested in WaterSports you will often see people kite surfing, sailing, wind-surfing etc. around this stretch many of the local shops sell equipment/wet-suits etc. to allow visitors to give it a go :)

8. Deaf Havana

Hunstanton is the home to Deaf Havana, need I say more! Here is their video for Hunstanton Pier:

If you are around Norfolk this Summer make sure you visit Sunny Hunny! :)

Happy reading! Amy :) x
